My CD burner stopped working all of a sudden, so I bought a brand new DVD burner, and it has the same problem. When I go to the trouble-shooter on the add/remove hardware thingy, it says that “This device is not working properly because it depends on another device which is not working properly” and “this device is not working because windows cannot load the drivers”. I have recently switched from dial up to cable, so I think that the tech deleted something, but I’m not sure what it would be. It happened as soon as cable was installed. How do I fix it? And what devices are needed for the CD-ROM to run???

It’s a matshita dvd-rom sr-8587.. my computer is a windows 2000 pro. The drivers are up to date, but in the trouble shooter it said it’s not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it really doesn’t seem to work for me..if somebody could help, I’d be very greatful, thanks..

When I go to the Trouble Shooter it will not troubleshoot, and the computer says it is working well. Any solutions?

Hi there….I have run into a problem- usually I’m pretty good at poking around figuring stuff out but this problem has me stumped. My Dell Inspiron 9300 has suddenly stopped being able to play DVD and CD’s. This is the error I get when I get into the device Manager.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I tried the trouble shooter and it tells me to uninstall and reinstall the driver, which I’ve done 20 times at least and it’s not working. I’ve tried downloading the driver from the Dell website and it tells me it can’t find it…as if it’s trying to just update the already corrupt one. HELP!! I don’t typically give out my email address, but if you acutally think you can help me…my email is razor_sharp_redhead@yahoo.com any help will truly be appreciat
I really appreciate those of you who actually read what I’ve already tried before giving your advice.
