I know this question has been asked before, but I can’t decide between the 360 and the Wii. I just made the transition to HD, and I have a 42′ 1080p TV along with a Blu-ray and HD DVD player.

The PS3 isn’t an option for me because I’m a diehard boxing fan, and 2K’s boxing game that comes out in May won’t be on the PS3. It’ll be on the 360 and Wii.

I mainly play sports games along with the occasional racing and shooter game. The only games not on the Wii that I’d play on 360 are GTA, Stranglehold, and Midnight Club: LA. There is a few games ont on the 360 that I’d play, such as Zelda, Scarface, Resident Evil, and some others.

Should I go for the better graphics or the better playing experience?

Hello, I have a few questions about the consoles in general:

PS3:
1) Can movies be downloaded via my PC and placed on a usb drive and then viewed on my TV via the PS3?

2) If I view a normal DVD on the PS3, since it’s blue-ray will the quality of the standard DVD be better on my HD television?

3) Are standard movie formats downloaded from the internet like DIVX and Xvid viewable on the PS or will I have to transcode everything before?

XBOX 360:

4) Is there a HD-DVD ready Xbox version out there, or do I always have to purchase the separate HD-DVD adapter separatly?

VERSUS:

5) Which of the 2 media centers supports the most various formats? the PS3 or XBOX360?

6) Which console offers the most active online gaming community for shooters and such, PS3 or XBOX 360?

Many thanks for taking the time to answer. ^_^
+7) Can I simply play PS2 games on the PS3 from out of the box, or will I need to purchase some extra software or hardware?
8) Can I play DVD and BlueRay movies on the PS3 out of the box or will I need some special controller, like on the old Xbox?

I have been playing games since Atari 2600 and i have to say that these news systems dont seem to be anything more than prettier. I have yet to see anything new,

Nintendo was the first major gaming console
Then Sega and Super Nintendo were exceptionally prettier and had new gameplay possibilities
The N64 introduced the new controller and multiplayer shooters, Golden Eye, also it could hold up to 4 players.
Sony took a swing at the systems and brought a new face with their unique controller with flight sim games, and games with cinematic story lines.
Dreamcast flopped
PS2 and XBOX came out, and it was prettier and had online play ability and could play DVD’s.
Now the Wii is out and nothing has really been done with the controller besides Wii sports, the XBOX 360 is just a prettier more likely to break version of XBOX, and the PS3 is very pretty but has yet to be anything more than that.

Does anyone else feel a little let down? and dont get me started on the prices.

putting prices aside, let’s say i get a 2 gb ram, 300 gb hard drive, and whatever graphic card you recommend to play games, it should be over a grand but not by much. in terms of which system is better to play games (first person shooter, fighting, etc) and which system has better games, should i get a new computer (my current one is very old and crappy, doesn’t even play dvd), or a game console (xbox 360 would be my first choice)?
